Summer School 2012 General Information:

Registration & Tuition: To guarantee enrollment, full tuition must be received by May 11, 2012. Enrollment after May 11, 2012 is possible on a space-available basis (particularly for students who need to make-up 2nd semester grades). Tuition may be paid by check, money order, or cash only. Summer School is unable to process electronic or credit card payments.

Cost: The tuition of a class is specified in the course descriptions and on the Registration Form.

Conditions for Offering Classes: With the exception of Preparation Classes, ALL Enrichment Workshops and High School Credit Classes are subject to the following conditions/constraints: minimum enrollment, class request conflict(s), and faculty/facility constraints. Families will be informed by June 1, 2012 if a Workshop or Class will not be offered for any of those reasons. A full refund will be given if a course is cancelled for any of those reasons.

Meeting Times: Unless otherwise specified in the course description, classes could meet in either of two periods: 8:00 – 10:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Meeting times will be established when minimum enrollment calculations are determined, generally by the first week in June. (See (a) ‘Conditions for Offering Classes,’ above; and (b) ‘Schedules,’ below). NOTE: The meeting times for Ceramics Workshops are specified in the course descriptions.

Schedules: Student schedules will be mailed (through U.S. Postal Service surface mail) approximately ten days prior to the start of Summer School. Schedules will be sent to the address of the Primary Contact listed on Page 1 of the Registration Form.

Calendar: Unless otherwise specified in the course description and on the Registration Form, Workshops and Classes will meet from Wednesday, June 13 through Friday, July 13, inclusive.

Holiday: No Workshops or Classes will be held on Wednesday, July 4, in observation of Independence Day.

Non-Marin Catholic Students Welcome: Unless otherwise specified in the course descriptions, and based on space available, enrollment in Summer School Enrichment Workshops and High School Credit Classes is open to students from both private and public schools. Preparation Classes are open to incoming Marin Catholic freshmen ONLY.

Books & Supplies: Unless indicated in the course description, Marin Catholic will provide all books.

Attendance: Parents are asked to call the school (415) 464-3813 in the event of an absence. After an absence or in the case of late arrival, students should report to the Summer School Office to obtain a re-admit note.

In High School Credit Classes, students who miss more than two classes will incur a loss of credit for that class; tuition is non-refundable in such cases. In all other classes, tuition is non-refundable after May 18, 2012 unless the course is cancelled as a result of specified conditions/constraints (see above, ‘Conditions for Offering Classes’).

Dress Code: Marin Catholic students are expected to dress in a manner appropriate for school. General appearance should not blatantly or subtly promote unhealthy or negative attitudes, practices, or lifestyles. While on campus students are expected to be neatly groomed, modestly dressed, and boys clean-shaven. Any clothing that is torn, grayed, stained, inappropriately patched, or in a state of disrepair, as well as extremely faddish or of military attire, is unacceptable. Moderate hairstyles and colors are expected. Hair must fall within the normal range of color. For boys, acceptable length is to the collar. All students must be clean and well groomed at all times. The Summer School Administrator will determine whether specific clothing and/or jewelry are appropriate for school.

Drop-off & Pick-up: Students should be dropped-off in, and picked-up from, the lower parking lot or in front of the gymnasium ONLY. Cars picking up students before and after school should form TWO WAITING LINES in the closest two right lanes in front of the gym with cars PULLED UP to the white line.  NO STOPPING is allowed in the left outside lane (closest to Sir Francis Drake Blvd.).

The upper parking lot should NOT be used for any drop-offs or pick-ups.

Electronic Devices: The use of cell phones and other digital devices including but not limited to PDAs, iPads, and other multifunction communication tools, iPods/iTouches and other audio music/voice players, digital and film cameras (still and video), and laser pointers, are prohibited on campus during normal school hours and may be confiscated.

Behavior: Basic to the philosophy of Marin Catholic is respect. We expect interactions between students, students and teachers, among staff members, and between parents/guardians and staff to be based on respect. Marin Catholic is committed to providing a safe, respectful environment for its staff and students.

General Rules: Complementing the information on this page, the rules and guidelines as they appear in the 2011-12 Marin Catholic Parent/Student Handbook (available on the Marin Catholic website) apply to Summer School. Parents and students may wish to review the Handbook for additional or more detailed information.
